My Role at Gemini DJ (2001–2003)
From 2001 to 2003, I worked at Gemini DJ, a role that perfectly aligned with my personal experience and passion as a DJ. This perspective became a vital asset in developing and testing the company’s products. As a Marketing Technical Writer, I made significant contributions to both marketing and product development, serving as a bridge between engineering teams and end-users.
Key Responsibilities and Contributions:
Website Management:
I managed Gemini’s website, ensuring it effectively showcased the company’s extensive product offerings and innovations. U created icons and used the sopeciafication I wrote for the prducts and makrketing to refine the product pages of the companies website.
Additionally, one of my first recorded tracks, created in Propellerhead's Reason 1.0 on Windows XP, titled Rex Plex (named after an instrument in Reason), was featured on the website’s music player. This track remained a highlight on the site for years, further connecting the brand with its creative audience.
Marketing Collateral:
I developed engaging advertisements, sales documents, and promotional materials that effectively highlighted the value and versatility of Gemini’s diverse product line. My work strengthened the company’s market presence, appealing to DJs and professional audio enthusiasts.
Product Documentation:
My primary responsibility was to create comprehensive technical manuals, service guides, and product documentation. I collaborated closely with Russian engineers—who spoke limited English—to develop detailed technical diagrams and functionality guides. This ensured the manuals were clear and accessible to both customers and service teams.
Product Development & Design Support:
I actively contributed to the development and design of several key products:
• DSP-1: I recorded audio samples for this device in my home studio, directly shaping its sound capabilities.
• FX-7000 DJ Mixer: I contributed to the mixer’s physical design, including selecting the metal knobs, balancing aesthetic appeal with functionality.
Working closely with engineering and product teams to refine features, ensuring the final products met the practical needs of DJs and users while maintaining high technical standards. This role allowed me to combine technical expertise, creative skills, and hands-on experience as a DJ to influence Gemini’s product innovation. From shaping product designs to creating music featured on the company’s platform, my contributions left a lasting impact on both the brand and its users.
